Quality tested tone wood

With meticulous attention to quality, each piece of wood used in my guitars is tested for properties such as stiffness, damping, velocity of sound, and density. Especially when it comes to the sound board, which I believe is the single greatest element in the production of the instrument's sound. Only the best will do!

Structured sides

Standard to each Larkspur model, laminated structured sides create a stiffer rim assembly, providing greater stability and anchor to the top and back vibrating plates. They assist in creating a stronger neck to body structure, and an overall louder guitar.

Stauffer style adjustable neck

Based on the design of 19th Century builder, Johann Georg Stauffer (Teacher of C.F Martin) each Larkspur guitar utilises an adjustable neck that allows players to adjust the height of the strings from the fretboard with the simple turn of an Allen Key. While offering significant practical benefits, and zero drawbacks to playability or sound, this has become a feature of all Larkspur guitars.

To quote a mentor, and shop mate, Jeremy Clark of 52 Instrument Company, "Building a fixed neck instrument is just irresponsible!"

Carbon fibre reinforced necks

Providing the stiffness necessary, without adding weight, the neck of each Larkspurk guitar is strengthened by a hand-made carbon fibre reinforcement. Each is carefully installed and includes a truss rod to further optimise results.

Ultra light weight bridge

Drawing on inspiration from the banjos of Jason Romero, an old mentor of mine, the Larkspur perforated bridge design is unique to the guitar world. Hand sculpted from roasted maple, capped with pernambuco, hollowed out, perforated, and ebonized, this sleek black bridge weighs only 6 grams when finished. This allows the top of the guitar to resonate freely, unhindered by a cumbersome mass.

Various machine heads available

My guitars come stock with Japanese made Gotoh tuners. Swiss made Miller tuners are also available.

Custom Tailpiece

The Jazz Manouche and tenor guitar models come equipped with custom handmade tailpieces from my dear friend and collaborator Mathilde from Muse Guitar Parts. With her jeweller's touch, she makes each one unique.
